Krystal Tsosie

Krystal Tsosie (Diné/Navajo Nation) is an Indigenous genetic epidemiologist and bioethicist, and an Assistant Professor in the School of Life Sciences at Arizona State University. She also is Associate Director of the Biodiversity Knowledge Integration Center with ASU’s Biocollections and Natural History Museum. Other affiliations include the Center for Evolutionary Medicine and the School of Human Evolution and Social Change.
Her work spans laboratory science, population-level genomics, and the design of data infrastructures that shape how genomic research is conducted, governed, and translated into health outcomes. Tsosie’s research advances new frameworks for Indigenous data sovereignty, with a focus on building ethical, community-led approaches to genomic science and digital health.
She co-founded the first U.S. Indigenous-led biobank, the Native BioData Consortium, and leads and co-leads projects within the U.S. National Institute of Health's All of Us Research Program. She contributes to national and international efforts shaping the future of genomics and biodiversity science, including committees of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine and the Earth BioGenome Project. Her work has been widely recognized for its role in redefining equity, governance, and responsibility in genomics.
Tsosie is a member of the AEGIS Ethics Advisory Board.
