Christoph Dockter is Head of Cereal Trait Development at the Carlsberg Research Laboratory, where he leads the cereal research within Department A, Reinvent Planet & Health.
Dockter's work focuses on identifying key cereal breeding traits and uncovering the genetic and biochemical mechanisms behind them. At the Carlsberg Research Laboratory, he helped establish a novel droplet digital PCR–based approach for the rapid discovery of pre targeted genetic variants in large genomic populations, significantly accelerating the development of new crop varieties. He also contributed to sequencing the complex barley genome. Dockter collaborates closely with academic partners and plant breeders, linking fundamental research to practical applications.
Within AEGIS, he is a research leader in crop translational science and leading the Carlsberg Research Laboratory Barley Plug-in where ancient environmental DNA plant adaptations will be tested for trait effects in modern cereals. He is also a member of the AEGIS Scientific Steering Committee.
