EU Minister Meeting
In September 2025, AEGIS Director Eske Willerslev presented the AEGIS vision to all EU Ministers of Agriculture during the Danish EU Presidency meeting in Copenhagen. While outlining how ancient environmental DNA could help future-proof agriculture, ministers were served a barley salad made with barley based on AEGIS research containing a 2-million-year-old blue-light adaptation discovered in ancient DNA from Greenland.
The presentation formed part of the informal EU Agricultural Ministers’ Meeting (7–9 September 2025), focused on improving competitiveness and accelerating the green transition of the EU agri-food sector, including through biosolutions and emerging technologies.
